My name is Jim Wierzba and I have been collecting decoys and sporting collectibles for
over 40 years. I am also the current vice-president of the North American Decoy
Collectors Association, the national collecting club.
I have known Grant Cole for over 7 years and find him to be passionate about our hobby
and his auction business. He is honest, motivated and customer service oriented. If you
are considering consigning your collection to him, I highly recommend him.
Here are a couple of additional considerations. Most other auction houses want to "cherry
pick" your best items but don't want to deal with the rest of your collection which leaves
the seller with a big problem. Grant is willing to take entire collections and help the seller
dispose of every item.
Second, Grant conducts at least 2 premier sales a year and a number of additional sales
and you therefore have more opportunities to sell your items faster.
Third, Grant is mid-west based and very knowledgeable about decoys from the mid-west
so if your collection skews to the Great Lakes area, you are in luck. He has built up a large
data base of buyers for all regions of the country but especially in the mid-west. He has
also cultivated resources such as myself to review consignments and offer input. He sells
more decoys from the mid-west each year than any other auction house. Grant has been
offering many items from across the country and Canada but retains his mid-west flavor.
As I age and try to focus my collection to a smaller number of items, Grant has been
invaluable by taking consignments from me and getting the items successfully sold. I am
very pleased with his customer service and his hands-on method of dealing with
customers. He regularly makes delivery runs to his clients and hand delivers items
purchased which is a very rare activity in today's auction world. It is a win:win as it
typically leads to more consignments from his customers.

​My experience with Grant Cole and Auctioneers, Inc. has been a pleasure from the beginning
to the end of our transaction.
My late husband had a large decoy (and related items) collection. Grant made the 7 hour
journey from upper Michigan to look at the collection and give me an estimate of my costs to
auction the items. Later he and an assistant drove down with a box truck and carefully
wrapped each item in bubble wrap, put the items in plastic tubs and loaded them into shelves
inside the box truck.
The proceeds of the auction were to be donated to Sycamore Land Trust, a local organization
committed to the preservation of high-quality natural areas in Southern Indiana. Grant
worked closely with that organization to promote the auction on their social media and
included Sycamore’s information and website link on his auction website. Grant also included
a bio and photos of my husband, giving his background in natural resource conservation and
promoting the idea of donating to the land trust.
The auction was conducted in two sessions about two months apart. Both auctions netted
more than anticipated. After each auction Grant followed up with me to discuss the sale.
In all, Grant netted us about $140,000 which will be used to renovate a structure into a nature
interpretive center in south-central Illinois. I would highly recommend the services of
